Memories

Seems as one gets older, one also begins to reminisce the good 'ol days more.

Well back in the good 'ol days where I was a student pinching pennies, I would regularly eat Corned beef and plain rice for lunch once I got back to school. Can of corned beef was $2 then (1 day's school allowance) and could last me a week.

And suddenly today I had a strong desire to taste that corned beef and rice again. Well , now it's $4.60 a can. Corned beef tastes just the same as I remembered it to be.

...hmm. Does this mean when I'm in my 60s I'll be eating baby food? As one gets older one seems to be wanting to eat food from younger and younger days.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I was fodder for mosquitoes for a good 5 days under the putrid humidity of the balinese heat. But under all that discomfort I guess there is a rainbow to look forward to. And a lovely sunrise.

Bali here I come

Nearly 2 years since my last yoga retreat, time to go back into the mountains and hills and get re-acquainted with frogs, ants, mozzies and....vegetarian food grown by the local farm plots.

5 days of yoga with master Devki from Pune, meditation and walks. No internet. Yummy.

Bloo Lagoon here I come.

Tokyo in April

Sakura in Tokyo, how I've missed seeing them for so long. Finally we meet again. Not to mention the inevitable amount of eating, and shopping with 2 H-crazy friends.

Birthday Treats

Free Warm Choc cake at Bakerzin as a treat from them for my birthday month.

Actually there's a lot of birthday vouchers from various stores, just that I don't bother to use them as they often mean spend more $$$ to get the birthday treat. But I like this Bakerzins one just fine...free is free...no minimum spend. Yum.

When Bored...just Cook

Amazingly I find myself bored, and with time on my hands. A rare event these days, but with no yoga class, no boyfriend, no shopping open thanks to a long CNY weekend.....well, out comes the Jamie Oliver cookbook. Voila! A simple spicy tuna pasta.

It's Lunar New Year again.

Not like it used to be, when we were young it was so much more fun as we played like kids without a care. As adults, we have too much to think about and lose our childlike innocence.

how quick we all grow up. Now cousins have children, and their children have children. Whoa.

Birthday

Another year, maybe wiser. Definitely Older. Certainly wierder.

So we did the touristy stuff in celebration of my coming of age. Sentosa, Singapore Flyer,.... and finally dinner at Forlino.

Reflections

In a strange twist, the facebook I once scoffed at let me find my long 'lost' cousins. Ok not so lost, just that I haven't seen them in several years since they moved out of SG. Of course I'm totally flabbergasted to find they've got married and or have grown kids. Since my younger bro is also engaged, and save for one young university-age cousin, I'm the last one standing. Do I mind? No not really, except a reminder of youth gone by and years passing on.

A friend's Sheltie passed away, the ripe old age of 13. Another stark reminder of years gone by, as these were companions of my dogs when they were younger. Another reflection of life, fleeting; of memories. As we watch our movie idols and friends take that step to the rainbow bridge ahead of us...another contemplation of how short life is.
